Good while it works - but don't expect after-sales service Sent: 05 December 2007 My 2-year-old machine has developed an electrical fault - all the lights come on and the control buttons don't work. I'm happy to pay for repairs but Breville say "whilst we sympathise with your predicament... we cannot be held responsible for any faulty product that is outside the twelve-month warranty period. We are unable to obtain spares to repair these products they are manufactured in the Far East, therefore beyond our direct control." They do however "assure me of their best attention at all times".
So as far as Breville are concerned I should just throw the machine away, and (presumably) spend £100 on a new one to last for the next 2 years. No thank you.
Easy to use, and produces great bread Sent: 27 November 2005 This is my first bread maker, and I am impressed. It produces a great tasting loaf with about 10 minutes preparation. The loaf it produces tastes much better than any supermarket packaged loaf, and the smell of fresh bread is great. The instruction manual is informative, with lots of recipes for different types of bread and dough. We found the recommended amount of sugar to be a touch too much, but adding a little less gives the same results. Follow the instructions and you will have a great tasting, great looking loaf. For the price, I have no complaints.
Breville BR7L Breadmaker Sent: 02 July 2004 An excellent machine. It has produced wonderful white and wholemeal loaves and dough (for first-class home-baked soft rolls) and fruit loaves. I have found that organic flour gives a lighter and slightly less chewy texture, although both types of flour give good results. I use half the recommended amount of salt with no loss of flavour. It takes about ten minutes preparation time to begin the cycle and no more attention is required. The instructions are clear and simple to understand. The machine also looks good! Overall, I recommend this product unhesitatingly.
Competent and Easy to Use Sent: 03 March 2004 This is our first bread maker and it has been a bit of a revelation. It is wonderful to have the smell (and taste!) of freshly baked bread in the house and this machine takes most of the effort and all of the clock- and oven-watching out of baking bread. It even looks good. Follow the insructions and this machine will bake lovely bread on your first try, without any fuss. We recommend light crust but obviously that's a matter of taste. The only thing stopping this being a five star rating is the slightly dense instruction manual. But take your time to read it carefully and completely before you start and you shouldn't go wrong!
