Basically good, but has design flaws Sent: 11 June 2008 This machine juices fine, but there are a few design flaws:
1) It vibrates, so you sort of have to wrestle with it to keep it steady, making it awkward to put stuff in the feeder and keep the cup under the spout at the same time (my first try = big mess). The foot "suckers" didn't stick to the coutner no matter how hard I pushed it down.
2) The centrifuge/blade mechanism is very "open" to the pulp discarding bin, so that sometimes whole pieces of veggies just bounce off the blades and fly into the pulp bin without getting juiced.
3) As others mentioned, the juice spout is very close to the body of the machine, so the cup they provide barely fits under it. So if the machine moves even a tiny bit, the cup won't be under the spout and juice will run onto the counter.
4) The plunger you use to push the food down the spout sort of has a "track" that it has to fit into, otherwise it won't go into the chute. With all the fumbling around trying to hold the juicer steady, it just adds more hassle to carefully position the plunger into its slot before it can be pushed down.
The only other juicer I've tried is the Jack Lalanne of a friend, but I bought this one for myself instead because it has slightly more power. But for the same price I think the Jack Lalanne juicer is better simply because it is more compact and heavier, so it doesn't shake when used, and the pulp comes out dryer.
I think I will get used to the machine so it won't be so awkward, but I was expecting a better design from Breville.
Excellent Juicer Sent: 02 February 2008 This is an excellent machine it juices very well and has a vey powerfull motor, the only reason it didnt get 5 stars is because of the quality of the suction cups and the jug, the suction cups do not stick vey well to my kitchen worktop and because the jug doesnt fit right inside the spout the machine vibrates and you need to keep hold of the jug or their will be juice everywhere. I also use a Philips HR1861 which is almost double the price but this juices just as well, the only advantage the philips has is that the jug fits snug over the spout and the machine sticks well to the work surface. Overall this is an excellent buy and if you look aound you can get it for under £20, at that price you cant go wrong.
Vibrating machine Sent: 20 January 2008 I love juicers and cant get enough with what you can do with one. This product my father brought to be a little bit healthier. It does the same as most centrifugal juicers. But the jug they give you barely reaches the spout of the machine. This results in then when it vibrates it moves and the liquid gets everywhere. It would have been easy to rectify if they had added just 1/2 a cm to the jug and the pourer actually fitted nicely into the hole. As it stand now it does superb juices but I'm hunting for something to raise the jug up so it wont lose its content. I know you can say just make sure its pointing in the right direction. But as it vibrates it can adjust constantly. Its just a small thing but if they had thought about it, it could easily be rectified.
great Sent: 03 February 2007 I can highly recommend this juicer. I would have given it 5 stars but its a bit of a pain to clean. Then again that could be my laziness. I found it easy to use, the juice was great, and it is very very quick. I would also recommend the price.
