The Jury is still out Sent: 29 December 2008 Had it now for 3 days. It looks good and does everything it's supposed to, except......
The first time it was used, it didn't switch off when the water boiled, this has happened several times now, and with different people. Will give it a week or two to see if the fault (stiffness/newness?) wears off and then will contact Breville, although I'm sure I've read a review somewhere on Amazon that wasn't full of their praises.
Top Funky Kettle Sent: 24 November 2008 Everyone comments on this kettle when they come round. It looks great and does what it's supposed to. I'm not sure how environmentally friendly it is with its lights (but I switch it off at the plug when not in use) and it's difficult to tell exactly how many "cups" you are putting in as the water has to go through the filter area before you get to see it in the kettle - but you soon learn! Water is filtered perfect and living in London it clears the scum off your tea nicely. It is quite heavy based on other kettles we've had.
Excelent Kettle Sent: 04 October 2008 Brita Maxtra 9 Pack Water Filter Cartridges (+3 Free)
This Kettle is well worth Purchasing, a little bit more expencive than ordenry Kettles, but is worth it your hot drinks tast much better and the lights on the kettle look well cool, and a keep warm button enables you to make hot drinks without having to reboil the keetle and wiil keep the water hot for several hours. I have had no problems at all with this and am very pleased with it. The only problem is the Britta cartidges you need fot the kettle can work out a little expencive, concidering you have to change it every 4 weeks.
No scum here! Sent: 27 September 2008 This kettle would look good in any kitchen. I like the way the internal lighting changes colour too! The kettle boils in no time at all leaving no scum or film! Although expensive, it is well worth the extra in every way. A wonderful item indeed
JK164 filter kettle Sent: 13 July 2008 I had read some reviews saying that you can't taste the difference and the lid is stiff and is slow to boil. All I can say is I live in a very hard water area in the south of the uk and my coffee wasn't scummy, I didn't have those rings around my mug when you leave a bit of coffee in it, and best of all my teeth didn't have that film over them. Ok I've only just got it, but I'm very impressed, it also only took about a minute to boil instead of the usual 3 or more. The lid is a release button, which may wear, but I got the extra insurance for a tenner for 3 years which replaces it anyway if it breaks.
