Best kitchen buy Rating stars Sent: 17 November 2006
I didn't buy this from Amazon, but I bought one recently with gift vouchers and have been raving about it to my work colleagues. We looked and saw this review and I felt I had to add my own views.
It is the best kitchen appliance I have bought in years. I have used a slow cooker before and this is even better than my previous one. There was a smell when I first used it but the instructions does warn you, now there isn't.

The recipes are easy to follow and so far I have not had any complaints. I've made the tomato soup and my daughter (who doesn't like bits in her soup) said it was the best tomato soup she has had. (I liquidised it). I have even adapted my recipes to cook in this slow cooker. The curries I made were excellent . The Ratatouille, a favourite of mine, was superb and as long as you remember to heed the instruction not to add too much liquid in your recipes you can't go wrong.

Not so slow cooker Rating stars Sent: 09 August 2006
I purchased this cooker wanting to start to cook with more unprocessed ingredients and thought this would be a good way to begin. There are however two main flaws I have encountered since receiving it.

The first is the awful smell it produces when first used, though you can still smell it slightly after being used to cook 3 times and left on overnight with water to try to get rid of the problem.

The second is that it is not really that slow. Even on the lowest setting you can not leave it on for more than 5 hours without the food starting to dry out, not great if you want to leave it on all day whilst at work.

I choise this unit for 2 reasons firstly for the 4.5l capacity which suits my needs perfectly and second was the endorsment by AWT. Having now looked at other reviews at amazon it seems that the other 4.5L cooker by breville also has the same problem of being too hot.
