Excellent Coffee Maker and so Easy to Use Sent: 07 December 2008 Cuisinart DGB600BCU Grind & Brew Automatic Filter Coffee Maker
This Coffee maker is so easy to use. The facility to use coffee beans as well as filter coffee puts it a cut above the rest. The programming facility ensures that you can have a pot of coffee ready when you get up in the morning or come home.
The coffee stays warm and fresh, although if you add milk (as with all coffee makers) you need to heat if first or the coffee may taste cool.
It's easy to clean too.
A Great Machine Sent: 02 August 2008 I was given this as a present a month ago. A bit complex at first, I spent half an hour reading the manual, and it has been fantastic. Timer is set to 0545, and when I get up the coffee is there waiting. I have never used the grinder (I like filter coffee, and it is good not to have to buy filter papers any more), so I can't comment on the noise. At about 0900, I rinse out the various parts, leave them on the draining board, and by lunchtime it is dry and ready to refill for the next morning. One of the best presents I have ever received!
More design flaws than a tortoise in mating season... Sent: 25 January 2008 Nice idea in theory but many problems in execution... Cleaning task is monstrous - you have to clean the grinder, the basket, basket cover and the bits they sit in with each use. The jug has a novel heating plate that warms the jug and switches off to prevent stewing and it works - the brown stuff stays hot to trot!
I cant find paper filters to use in place of the re-useable one - the basket is far too small - you cant get enough in there. yes, I know its not very green but would make cleaning easier. If you use ground coffee, the steam generated fills the grinder unit with water so that you still have to clean it out. If you do buy, make sure you buy strong coffee beans - the grinder is so innefective that you really have to stack it up if you like it strong...
Overall, I think this machine was released for sale way too early at too high a price. However it is one of the few machines out there that has a timer, looks fairly robust and keeps warm without a hot-plate. It makes a decent cup of coffee but you have to use a lot of beans...
Great coffee maker Sent: 06 January 2008 I've had this for a while now and it makes great coffee; if you ignore measuring and just pour in the beans! Yes cleaning it is a pain, and why the design allows steam back into the grinder is beyond me, but generally I thoroughly recommend it. Finding somehere that sells replacement carbon filters however.....
