The temperature is pre-set at 190 degrees C, so this isn't a fryer for elaborate dishes but it does seem to handle most foods pretty well. The basket is a reasonable size and allows up to 1KG to be cooked in 2 Litres of oil, although be warned that the handle seems very flimsy - simply a loop of metal with a 'lock' that can easily be ignored.

The warm-up time is fairly quick and the unit has an 1800W heating element hidden underneath the main pan, which is easy to clean. The lid can be removed and put in the dishwasher (remove the filter first!) so there's really no trouble keeping this thing looking like new.

The oil and steam filter does seem to do its job (despite a fair bit of steam escaping round the edge when you first lower food in), and the fryer comes with two additional ones to last you a few weeks before you have to go out hunting for more.

A useful feature is the large glass window in the lid, which allows you to check the cooking progress without opening the top. The window is big enough to allow plenty of light into the fryer so you won't need a torch to see what's going on!

It's certainly not a fryer for people who are really into cooking (and want all the frills) but it's ideal for anybody who wants a fairly compact fryer that they can just turn on and cook with. For simple daily frying you can't really go wrong with this one.
