Looks aren't everything Sent: 30 November 2008 I bought a DeLonghi KBE3014-2 3kw cordless cream Kettle because my wife wanted a colour co-ordinated one and this model was on offer. I got it home opened it up, filled it and....it did indeed sound like a helicopter was landing outside the kitchen window ( as a previous reviewer has said)
My big mistake was not reading the product reviews before buying this thing. I've emptied it out, dried it and will take it back to get a refund ( what chance there ?)
I likewise bought the De'Longhi CT04E 4 Slice Cream Toaster. Another piece of Italian tin. Took ages to toast even thin bread, the gauges feel like they about to fall apart and overall it was another bad buy. ~Guess what ? It's going back too.
Colour co-ordinatiom may be important to some but quality and reliability must also be considered.
It will be a long time before I consider another De'Longhi product.
Maybe I'm easy pleased! Sent: 12 November 2008 Just idling thru reviews while I decide whether to buy the matching toaster or not, and I was surprised to find how poorly this is rated.
And yet, I can hardly disagree with some - the gauge is particularly bad and does indeed look as though it's registering water content when there's none.
However, I find it robust, a good pourer, I like the side-ways handle on the lid, so that if you do take it off to re-fill after boiling, you don't scald yourself. I also like the fact that it will boil small amounts of water, and always turns off at boiling, whether it's full or got hardly any in.
Yes, it is Very Noisy, you can't have a phone conversation next to it when it's boiling.
I've had mine about 6 months in a fairly average kitchen, I'm no perfect housewife, but it doesn't look grubby or tatty yet. I've just been to stare at it to check.
Stylish to start with, now leaky, grubby and annoying Sent: 03 April 2008 I did a lot of research before choosing this kettle and thought I found the worst kettle ever manufactured, after reading other reviews I could be wrong and it is just one of the worst.
Faults;- Not a fast boil but slow and noisy; cream exterior hell to keep clean and now looks old and grubby after only a year; cannot fill to capacity or leaks through the water gauge this started happening after about 3 months; worst water filter I have ever known; gauge is difficult to read as handle is in the way but that is a minor quibble; handle is awkward and is even more difficult to get last dregs of water out if you are smaller or more petite person
Good points:-Do not have to fill the kettle up to make one cuppa; has lasted longer than I thought it would.
Advice - When looking for a new kettle, do not make one your criteria points 'to match kitchen', because I did this and ended up with the DeLonghi KBE3014-2. Have given it two stars because it lasted over a year and after reading some reviews here I think I should be grateful!
