great espresso Rating stars Sent: 21 January 2007
At last, a machine that produces the caramel coloured crema and taste that I only got in restuarants.
Re the above review, the handle on the filter has a small "latch" that holds the metal coffee holder in place when emptying the used grounds.
Even when hot!!

EC730 Delonghi Espresso Coffee Machine Rating stars Sent: 31 October 2006
excellent first self-producing espresso system. fits on majority work tops because of compact, but suitable, size. The system is easy to use. Plug it in, press the time button to set the time (keep your finger on the button until the right time is showing) press the ON button for couple of seconds, fill up the water reservoir and you're away - wait for the OK button to light up.

connecting the bit which holds the coffee can be a bit fiddly at first - you'll need to look under the roof of the machine to get it in the right place, but after a few goes, you can do it without looking. it doesn't always line up at 90 degrees to the user though. it'll probably be pointing slightly to the left of you - but that is normal i'm assured.

the machine has its own tamper, so a separate one and added expense is not a problem - remember to tamper downt the coffee before attaching it to the machine or you'll not brew a perfect creamy espresso because the water will pass through the chamber too quickly.

this is a nice system because there isn't much to keep clean. the drip tray detaches easily for a swill out, the water reservoir slides out easily - the only thing which could do with developing is the bit where the ground coffee sits when its being brewed. when you want to bang out the used coffee, the inside strainer isn't attached so you'll lose it in the bin if you don't hold it - and if its hold you dont want to hold it.

All over - very good, very easy hands-on espresso machine.

its steams good frothy milk too!
