As some people I also had the dilema if I should buy Kitchen Aid or Kenwood. I must admit I did prefer the look of Kitchen aid, but I went o visit my local John Lewis and was actually told Kenwood is better with more powerfull motor as with kitchen aid you seems to be paying for the name. It is excellent piece of kitchen equipment. Make excellent bread dough, mixes batter etc. Looks lovely if you going for this retro kitchen look.

As per sticking to the bottom of the bowl. I did warm the bowl and my butter so not sticking.

Absolute genius! Rating stars Sent: 14 July 2010
I received this mixer as a long wished for birthday present, and I totally love it! I'd been umming and ahhhing over a Kitchen Aid mixer for ages but the price was so good on this, and the motor is better, I loved the styling so went for it.

It is great, my Mum had a Kenwood Chef when I was growing up and this is a vast improvement on her old machine. The motor has a gradual increase, the splashguard is genius, allowing you to add ingredients with the mixer still going without covering the kitchen in stuff!

It looks stylish, is very sturdy, easy to clean. Also I hardly ever need to scrape down the sides of the bowl, it is really very effective at mixing.

The positives far outweigh the negatives but... it's quite hard to store as it is large, it doesn't come with a cover (which is a shame as I don't want it all dusty but it does look nice), and it is very heavy so I have trouble lifting it up to its storage place (but this also means it's nice and sturdy).

Highly recommend to any keen cooks/bakers. Wish there was a coordinating proper food processor.

Faultless Rating stars Sent: 25 May 2010
This mixer is amazing! I have used it for various different items now (cakes, muffins, buns, bread...) and it has produced brilliant results every time. It is so easy to use, clean and it looks so pretty! Definitely worth the money for those people who bake frequently. I have no complaints whatsoever about and I would recommend it to anyone!

Looks good and works well Rating stars Sent: 13 February 2010
this is a good looking product and it works well, has lots of power, is easy to clean. i spent ages deciding between this and the artisan, decided on this one as there seemed to be lots of issues with returns on the artisan. I have only used it for baking so far and it seems to work fine. You still get bits left at the bottom of the bowl but you do with both, sometimes you don't so not sure of the reason.

I've become a domestic goddess!!! Rating stars Sent: 13 February 2010
This machine is a dream to use. I too had the dilemma of KitchenAid or Kenwood - but the man in John Lewis was heavily biased as he'd worked for Kenwood for over 20 years! This is a solid quality machine and looks great, which is handy as it's left out on my worktop. I bought the cream one, because I refused to pay so much more for black (which I think would require constant cleaning) or an admittedly funky red one which I loved - but now I've got it, I am not at all bothered by the colour - don't be a sucker to clever marketing!

I agree with the issue over creaming butter and sugar and it sticking to the sides. As well as useful suggestions such as warming the bowl, I also make sure I use really soft butter at warm room temperature. It's been a problem for years - my mum had an old Kenwood 40 years ago and she had to scrape the sides way back then! Adjusting the beater per the instructions may also help. Once you start adding the eggs, it sorts itself out.

I do find when it's running fast, I can't hear the doorbell or the phone ring - but when you're cooking and the creative juices are flowing, who wants to be disturbed anyway? Suffice to say, it could be quieter, just as well it's only 500w power or I'd have permanent tinitus. I do highly recommend this mixer it's great value for money and on performance to date, I'm expecting it to last me for many years. I've also become strangely popular among friends and family who are happy to be guinea pigs for all the experiments I've been doing with it.
