CUSTOMER REVIEWS

So far so good - will update in time! - UPDATED Rating stars Sent: 07 January 2008
UPDATE :- 3 Months on and the m200 is my pride and joy. I love it so much and would not be without it. As other reviews have said i have had to stop drinking coffee much at other peoples houses just because they all taste bitter or tasteless compared to my own. I don't begrudge the cost at all and now I am in the swing of it with nespresso's ordering system I always have a good supply and have been very impressed with the service from them. Don't dither - just get one.

This is a very early review as I have only had the coffee maker for 4 days but I know I am always scanning for new reviews when deciding on something so thought I would pop a review on anyway.
The machine is nicely packaged and comes with a posh box with one espresso and one lungo cup and saucer and 12 coffee capsules - one of each variety. Part of the reason I have given only 4 stars is that the instructions are pretty rubbish. I am a read the manual sort of person and like doing everything step by step and sure I am doing it right but had to abandon the instructions and dive in really. When you do tho the machine is actually pretty simple and now after a couple of days I feel fairly confident using it. I bought it mainly for latte's tbh and they really do taste as good as starbucks which was just what I was looking for. The milk steamer is really good - I was worried that it wouldn;t work as well as a professional one but makes all the right noises and steams the milk pretty quickly. I haven;t tried to make huge amounts of foam yet but it foams fine when I try and I think I could if I wanted.
The main downside for us is the size of cup you can fit under the spout is pretty small. The drip tray does come out but this seems bit messy and so atm I put the coffee into an espresso cup ( helps you measure the amount to as with this manual version, you decide how much water you want to put thro the capsule.) Then atm I am steaming the milk in a big mug and pouring the coffee in at the end. I plan to get a posh milk frothing jug but have to curb myspending for the moment :) .
The cost is another downside really. The machine not too bad with the £30 cashback in my opinion but went online to order my capsules and have had to fork out another £35 for mix box of £150 capsules plus i think £4.50 delivery. Thought for that delivery at least they would come quickly but I ordered them Fri morning and at time of writing( mon evening) I still have no capsules and have now run out of the ones that came with it so will be coffeeless tomorrow if they don;t turn up quickly. I emailed nespresso today as I had had no confirmation of despatch tho and did receive a call from a very nice man telling me they had been a delay and very apologetic, said they have been sent out today and might be here tomorrow. Not a great start but will order in plenty of time next time. I didn;t realise you could join the nespresso "club" before you had your machine but they just want an email address so I would suggest you order your capsules when you order your machine and not end up like me.
Ok - not the most coherent review but might help someone deciding. Will update soon.

Quick, easy and tasty Rating stars Sent: 26 October 2007
Very clever marketing - I fell for nespresso capsules just like I was supposed to. When you open a set of three of each flavour, it looks like a box of chocolates and you find yourself looking at the label trying to decide which one to choose!

I have played around before with a cafetiere and an italian stove top espresso maker but this is much quicker and far less washing up. I just rinse the machine through before and after, and wash the drainer out every few days. You also don't have the problem of storing open packets of coffee in the fridge and wasting them if they go off. It is also good when guests come round - they can choose the strength and type of coffee, great fun.

Here is my favourite drink - microwave half a mug of milk then add a shot of espresso and a shot of hot water - yum. Its a cross between a latte and an americano. About a 1/10th the price of a high street chain coffee and tastes as nice if not nicer.

The only reason I have given it 4 stars not 5 is because you can't buy the capsules in the supermarket, you can only buy them direct from nespresso; and the coffee is not fair trade.

good coffee Rating stars Sent: 16 September 2007
I have bought this machine as a replacement for my old Krups Essenza machine which after two years of use was starting to age quickly.

The magimix m200 certainly has the look of a nice machine and really it doesnt let you down too much, that said the coffee from my older cheaper machine (The Krups Essenza which also uses nespresso capsules) makes better tasting coffee. It is a close thing and many may not notice but the coffee this machine makes is not quite to the level of my old essenza machine.

The machine itself is quite nice looking prices vary alot with this machine and you could pay as much as 60gbp more for the exact same machine but in a different colour. I personally think this is the best, black looks best and this is the cheapest m2oo I have seen while shopping around, you pay 20gbp more for the exact same package by using the actual nespresso website which is unusual also.

The machine itself is very easy to use and is manual which I prefer as you control the amount of coffee you pour from each capsule so you can match your taste and liking to the amount of coffee you pour.

Again worth saying is that the machine is quite bulky so if your buying for an office or the like it is probably not the best choice, again my essenza beat it for being a smaller size. The m200 does have a milk frother however which for cappuccino drinkers is important (though I like my coffee with just a touch of cream so will never use this feature and as such the machine hasnt gained any points from me for this inclusion)

All in all however its a great machine that still produces the best coffee that makes the likes of nero and starbucks taste like watered down water at 5-10 times less cost.

A brilliant machine but given my money back I would save a bit of it and buy the super simple Krups Essenza again as its slightly better in my opinion.

Not the gimmick I expected Rating stars Sent: 06 August 2007
To come clean, this was a purchase fueled by a couple of glasses of wine in a Waitrose sushi bar, and the other half mentioning his last hotel stay had had one. I'd seen them before, was wavering between "good idea" and "good marketing". But I must confess, it's not a half bad cup of coffee! The water chamber (reminiscent of scientific glassware - love it) is well designed - no pouring required, just top up at the tap and then slot onto the machine. Though this is the manual machine I think I'd not bother paying for the automatic - the lever has a wonderfully tactile quality that gives you a fleeting sense of barrista-ness.
Cleaning is simple - as you take your first couple of sips, put an empty cup in place and run a cup's worth of water through.
The coffees are going to be personal choice. For kiwis, we've found the Ristretto blend makes a good long black. Even the decaf's OK - somewhat of a surprise.

Great fresh coffee in an instant Rating stars Sent: 05 January 2007
I bought this machine as a Christmas present for my parents who enjoy a coffee at weekends. As I rarely drink coffe I had to do a bit of research on the types of machine available and the Nespresso capsule system seemed the best option. The capsules may not be for the real coffee connoisseur who enjoys taking fresh coffee beans and doing things from scratch, but for great coffee quickly and with minimal hassle it has got to be the way to go. It also allows people to have different types of coffee, each capsule is for one cup of coffee, so if someone wants decaffeinated, no problem, there is no time lost cleaning out the beans and making another blend.

The M200 is extremely easy to use and comes with a very good step by step guide to ensure someone with no prior knowledge of coffee machines can produce first rate espressos & cappuccinos straight away.

I was very surprised at how quickly the machine heated the water, and the swapping from coffee making to milk frothing only takes seconds. The machine is manually controlled which not only makes it cheaper but allows you to be in full control of how much water you use per capsule. I found that after frothing milk for a cappuccino the light would be flashing to indicate the water was too hot for the next cup of coffee. This is solved by squirting a bit of water out either milk nozzle or coffee nozzle to allow immediate use for the next cup.

It is very easy to order the capsules by internet or phone. There is a delivery charge of 4 or 5 pounds depending on quantities ordered.

This machine is an absolute steal at this price. It provides everything you need to make great coffee easily. My parents love it. The best accolade I can give is that after a life time of tea drinking I may even buy one of these for myself for the odd weekend cup of coffee as well.
