Great little grill Sent: 28 July 2010 This is an excellent product and produces moist, tasty food in a very short time. So far we have cooked steak, sausages, fish and vegetables and all were a success. The grill is easy to clean especially using the tip given by another reviewer. (Unplug grill after use and place a couple of sheets of kitchen roll dipped in water between the plates. This prevents food residue from sticking.)
My only minor complaint is that the logo and name on the top are wearing off leaving a dark smudge.
George Foreman 14181 - almost matched expectations! Sent: 20 July 2010 Well, either we have huge appetites or the claim to serve 4 is an exaggeration! I don't think it's the former..it does grill well and clean easily, nothing has broken yet! The portion size is the only dispute I would have, otherwise nice and compact and easy to use. Fat drip tray works well too.
not what i expected at all Sent: 14 July 2010 Well, the same thing as with some other reviewers, the hinge broke after using it just a couple of times. Actually the right side, while i made some cheese toasties. And i didnt push it hard. I had an old toastie maker, some cheap model long time ago and it still works at my parents weekend house. Never had any probs with that.
THe other thing is that it just doesnt do a good job at all as a grill.
Sausages burnt and dried out, not very nice. We are healthy eaters, but i guess i just stick with my grill pan over the hob as that does the job perfectly, and easier to clean as well. Disappointed. I will send it back, hope it will work under guarantee.
Great buy Sent: 17 June 2010 Bought this grill for my sister who has just moved into her first flat and she absolutely loves it. Heats up quickly and the melt function is really handy if you are making burgers and want to melt your cheese. Also found this to be £15 cheaper on Amazon than our local Argos.
Looks nice, thats about it! Sent: 14 May 2010 Delivery was in good time, service from Amazon good as usual. there was a slight chip in the grilling surface in one corner, though this did not influence function, the grill isn't particularly easy to clean if you let things burn or dry onto it, particularly the top grilling surface can be a pain, as all the food stuck to it will fall onto the countertop/ onto the grill when cleaning it off; this is a result of the non-removable grilling surfaces as well... if i were to buy one again, i would definately want at least that option. special non-stick cleaning pads are a must. the on/off switch is, useful i guess. oh, and i would also recommend a variable temperature switch; some foods will burn on the outside and still be cold inside; so be careful not to throw on a thick chicken breast unless you like it raw on the inside.
its a nice unit as far as size goes, though i am not sure how someone can cook 4 portion on it at once, i have a hard time fitting 3; (maybe i'm just a big eater, don't know)
the grill & melt also isn't particularly well designed technically, lots of thermal strain; when cooking temperature is reached, there is a lot of noise coming from the grill frame. it doesnt handle the temperature changes too well i think.
other than that... i wouldn't buy it again, but friends love it when they come by my place so i guess the impression it leaves to visitors is a bonus if thats what you want! ;-)
